HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. (AP) Loren Stokes scored 21 points and Aurimas Kieza added 17 to lead Hofstra past La Salle 79-69 on Wednesday night.
Carlos Rivera shot 5-of-10 from 3-point range and finished with 16 points, while Antoine Agudio had 13 for the Pride (2-0).
Steven Smith scored a game-high 27 points for the Explorers (0-2), who trailed 37-34 at halftime.
Rivera scored 13 points as Hofstra jumped out to a 22-8 lead at 12:24 in the first half. But Jermaine Thomas came off the bench to score 12 of his 16 points in La Salle's 23-9 run to close out the half.
Smith's three-point play tied it at 46 at 15:38 of the second half for La Salle, which never led. Behind Kieza's five points, Hofstra went on an 11-1 run and took command, 74-62 at 3:03.
