Nebraska Omaha at Colorado State

FORT COLLINS, Colo. (AP) Matt Williams scored 19 of his 25 points in the second half and Michael Morris added 18 to move Colorado State past Nebraska-Omaha 88-64 Wednesday night.

Williams was 8-for-9 shooting in the second half for Colorado State (3-0), which struggled with 20 turnovers against Division 2 Nebraska Omaha. The Rams were 26-for-34 on free throws.

Randy Bland led Nebraska-Omaha (3-1) with 12 points. Calvin Kapels had 10 points for the Mavericks and was 26-for-37 on free throws.

Denny Johnston hit a 3-pointer to keep the Mavericks within 51-47. A reverse layup by Kapels made it a four-point game.

Williams took over from that point, providing seven points in a 15-2 run that put Colorado State ahead 68-51 with 8:28 left. He then hit an off-balance jumper with 3:12 left, making it 80-62.

In the first half, both teams had more free throws than field goals. Kapels, cut above the left eye early in the game, hit a 3-pointer with 3:11 left to give Nebraska-Omaha its biggest lead, 35-30.

Colorado State used two 3-pointers by Morris in the last 2:19 to lead 40-37 at halftime. Morris, who was 4-for-4 on 3-pointers in the half, beat the buzzer with his final one.
