BOISE, Idaho (AP) Jermaine Blackburn scored 10 of his game-high 15 points during a 30-5 run in the first half and Jason Ellis scored all 11 of his points in the second period as Boise State defeated Portland State 63-51 in a non-conference game Wednesday night.
After falling behind 7-0, Boise State (3-1) went on its 30-5 tear to take control of the game, surging to a 30-12 lead with 4:39 remaining in the first half. Portland State hit just 6 of 22 from the field in first half for 27 percent.
Reserve forward Kenny Gainous ignited BSU's first-half surge with an emphatic dunk with 15:40 remaining after the Vikings (0-2) shot out to their 7-0 lead.
Seamus Boxley, who posted a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds, and Blake Walker led a Viking rally in the opening minutes of the second half. That twice cut Boise States lead to 5 points, but then Ellis took over,scoring four baskets in the first 9 minutes of the second half to give the Broncos plenty of breathing room.
Franco Harris scored 13 points for the Broncos, hitting 5 of 6 field goals, including 3 of 4 from three-point range, and Antone Jerrell had 11 points for PSU.
