ORLANDO, Fla. -- Josh Peppers scored 18 points and Gary Johnson and Adam Gill each added 15 to lead Central Florida to a 97-52 win over Puerto Rico-Mayaguez on Wednesday night.
Off to their best start in more than a decade, the Golden Knights (4-0) scored the game's first 20 points, stretched their margin to 44-14 at halftime and were never threatened in their home opener.
The Knights have their fastest start since winning the first five games of the 1993-94 season. UCF has won 13 of its past 15 games dating back to last season.
Mayaguez (0-8) concluded an eight-game Florida swing by missing its first 14 shots and 29-of-33 in the first half.
Diego Garcia led the Tarzans with 25 points.
