ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) Laramie Mergerson scored a season-high 21 points to lead Navy to a 77-67 win over Morgan State Tuesday night.
David Hooper added 17 points and Carlton Baldwin 14 points, season-highs for both players. Mergerson also had 10 rebounds for his third double-double in five games.
Hooper was 5-for-5 from the floor with two three-pointers and 5-for-7 from the free throw line. Navy (3-2) shot 46 percent with Mergerson making 7 of 11 shots and Baldwin 6 of 9.
Chris Grant scored 15 points to lead the Bears (1-4). With a 10-4 run to close the first half, Navy led 38-33 at halftime despite committing 17 turnovers.
Mergerson made his first five shots and had 13 points to lead the Mids, including 8 of their first 10 points. Morgan State started the second half with a 13-3 run that gave it the lead before Navy bounced back.
