GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) Quan Prowell scored 18 points, including 13 in the second half, as Furman held off a late rally to defeat North Carolina-Asheville 72-68 on Wednesday night.
Ben Earle added 15 points and Robby Bostain 14 for the Paladins (3-3), who led by 16 early in the second half. Furman was up 62-47 with 7:30 remaining when the Bulldogs (0-4) used a 19-6 run to get within two at 68-66.
Eric Webb's 10-footer with 8.5 seconds left and Prowell's free throw with 4.3 seconds remaining sealed the win.
Bryan McCullough, who the Bulldogs' run with a rebound basket, scored 15 to lead North Carolina-Asheville, including nine during the late rally. Joseph Barber added 13 points and 10 rebounds.
The Paladins hit their first six shots to open with a 17-4 lead after five minutes. They led by 11 at halftime and took their largest lead at 52-36 on Gerad Punch's lay-up with 13:26 to go.
