CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) Charlotte's Leemire Goldwire had 17 points to lead the 49ers to an 84-68 win over Louisiana-Lafayette Wednesday night.
Charlotte (3-1) had five players score in double figures including Brendan Plavich with 15 and Eddie Basden with 13.
Louisiana-Lafayette, who were playing their third game in five days, was led by Chris Cameron with 17. Tiras Wade finished with 14.
Charlotte shot 72 percent from the field in the first half and led 48-37 at the break.
The 49ers built their lead to 23 in the second half when E.J. Drayton hit the second of two free throws at 6:48.
The Ragin' Cajuns (2-3) pulled to within 12, 80-68, with 27 seconds left on Wade's final 3-pointer. Basden's seven steals ties a 49er record for most takeaways in a game.
