MUNCIE, Ind. (AP) Peyton Stovall scored 22 points, with five rebounds and five assists to lead Ball State to a 61-54 victory over Wright State Wednesday night.
Stovall was one of three Cardinals in double figures, along with Dennis Trammell, with 10 points, and Terrance Chapman, with 11. Chapman also led Ball State with eight rebounds.
DaShaun Wood led the Raiders with 20 points, adding seven rebounds and three assists. He also was 6-for-6 in free throws, although as a team the Raiders shot 70 percent on foul shots.
Ball State (2-1) led the whole game, including 27-19 at halftime. Wright State (3-2) did outscore the Cardinals 35-34 in the second half, but never was able to catch up.
The Cardinals were helped by 21 points off turnovers compared with nine by Wright State.
Ball State also outshot the Raiders - 40.4 percent to 37 percent - and made 13-of-16 free throws, including 4-of-6 by Stovall.
The Raiders did score more points in the paint, 20-18.
