FAIRFIELD, Conn. (AP) Dominick Martin had 19 points and 10 rebounds, and Yale held off a second-half comeback to beat Sacred Heart 74-64 Wednesday night.
Yale led by 10 at halftime and expanded the lead to 19 early in the second half. But a 21-6 Sacred Heart run made it a four-point game with 9:25 to play. The Pioneers got as close as two, but a Casey Hughes tip-in started a 10-0 Yale run that put the game away.
Sam Kaplan scored 17 points for the Bulldogs (2-3) and Edwin Draughan added 16 points and eight rebounds.
Ryon Howard led four Sacred Heart played with 14 points. Joey Henley had 10 points and 10 rebounds.
The Pioneers (1-4) shot just 35 percent, though they made 10-of-23 from 3-point range, including five during the run that got them back in the game.
