EVANSVILLE, Ind. (AP) Andre Burton scored 15 points and led five Purple Aces in double figures Saturday as Evansville beat Austin Peay 67-58.
Kyle Anslinger added 12 and Matt Webster 10 for Evansville (4-1). Bradley Strickland and Lucious Wagner each scored 11.
The Purple Aces sank 16-of-21 free throws over 12:22 to help overcome a one-point deficit and never trailed again. Evansville shot 80 percent (20-of-25) from the stripe overall compared with 60 percent for the Governors (1-5).
Maurice Hampton scored 19 and Anthony Davis had 10 points and eight assists for Austin Peay, which took its only lead of the game at 45-44 on a Levi Carmichael 3-pointer with 12:25 left.
But Zac Schadler then fouled Burton, who sank two free throws to retake the lead for the Purple Aces.
