BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) Kudjo Sogadzi scored 25 points while Tyquawn Goode and Terrance Todd each scored 15 to give Fairfield an 81-80 overtime win against Canisius Saturday.
Fairfield (4-2, 2-0 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference) went just 3-of-9 from the field in overtime, but hit 6-of-8 from the foul line. Sogadzi made 3 of his 4 free throw attempts.
Kevin Downey led the Golden Griffins (1-3, 0-2) with 24 points, hitting 5-of-7 3-pointers.
Downey's 3-point basket with 53.7 seconds left narrowed Fairfield's lead to 67-66.
Goode's two free throws with 11.9 seconds in regulation seemed to ice the game for Fairfield.
But DeWitt Doss's 18-foot jumper with 2.7 seconds remaining pulled Canisius into a 69-69 tie.
The Golden Griffins had trailed by as many as six in the second half and 12 in the game.
