OMAHA, Neb. (AP) Kellen Miliner scored 19 points and undefeated Creighton rallied from a 13-point deficit to defeat High Point 79-60 Saturday afternoon.
The Bluejays (7-0) took a four-point lead by halftime before falling behind 42-41 early in the second half. They took control with a 13-0 run to lead by 12 with 11:46 to play while displaying prowess both inside and outside.
Pierce Hibma added 13 points, Johnny Mathies 12 and Tyler McKinney 10 for the Bluejays. Two other teammates had nine apiece.
High Point (2-5) was sparked by Zione White's 19 points. The Panthers, who were in foul trouble early in both halves, also got 15 points from Danny Gathings and 11 from Titus Byrd.
After the Panthers closed within nine with 8:31 left, the Bluejays put it away with 3-pointers from four different players and were up 75-54 with four minutes left.
The wild first half featured several runs by both teams. Creighton scored nine straight points to lead 15-7, only to have the Panthers go on a 13-1 run to lead 20-16. That was the start of a a 24-3 burst, highlighted by 11 points by Zione White, making it 31-18 for the Panthers.
But they managed only one field goal in the final seven minutes of the half and Creighton used a 17-0 run to go ahead 37-33 at halftime. A field goal by Gathings gave High Point its 13-point lead at 7:28. He also scored his team's next field goal with 33 seconds left in the half.
Creighton shot 56 percent (31-of-55) to High Point's 45 percent (26-58). High Point had a 35-31 rebounding advantage, but the Bluejays had only 13 turnovers, four in the second, to 19 for the Panthers.
