HARRISONBURG, Va. (AP) Loren Stokes scored seven of his 21 points in a late 18-9 run as Hofstra defeated James Madison 78-75 Saturday night.
Mike Radziejewski started the run with two free throws to put Hofstra (4-0, 1-0 Colonial Athletic Association) ahead for good, 58-57, with 5:44 left. Radziejewski also hit a 3-pointer, and Stokes had a three-point play and two layups in the spurt.
A free throw by Aurimas Kieza made it 74-66 with 30 seconds left.
The Dukes (2-2, 0-1 CAA) closed to within three on Daniel Freeman's jumper with nine seconds left. Hofstra went 3-for-4 from the free-throw line before John Naparlo hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer for the final margin.
Kieza and Antoine Agudio scored 14 points apiece, and Carlos Rivera added 11 for Hofstra.
James Madison's Daniel Freeman led all scorers with 27 points on 10-of-16 shooting. Ray Barbosa added 16 points, Garbriel Chami 11 and Cavell Johnson 10.
