JACKSON, Miss. (AP) Hilton Tompkins and Dakari Wallace each had 12 points to help Jackson State beat Jacksonville State 64-51 Saturday night.
Earnest Hassell added 10 points to help the Tigers break a six-game losing streak and pick up their first win of the season.
Walker Russell led Jacksonville State with 10 points and Jeremy Law added 9.
Jacksonville (4-4) was within three at the end of the first half with a score of 27-24.
Jackson State extended the lead in the second half, boosting its shooting percentage from 30.6 percent in the first half to 55 percent in the second.
Jacksonville State hit 37.2 percent during the game and Jackson State finished at 39.3 percent.
