LOS ANGELES (AP) Matthew Knight had 13 points_all in the second half_and eight rebounds in Loyola Marymount's 73-57 win over Long Beach State Saturday night.
Loyola Marymount (4-1) overcame an abysmal 8-for-30 shooting performance in the first half by making 13 of 25 field goals for 52 percent in the second half.
The Lions trailed the entire first half and took the lead for the first time on a pair of free throws from Knight with 17:44 to play.
After several lead changes, Loyola Marymount went ahead to stay on a lay-up from Knight with 15:34 to play.
Charles Brown scored 11 for Loyola Marymount and Daryl Pegram and Brandon Worthy scored 10 apiece.
All 10 of Worthy's points came on free throws in a 10-for-12 performance from the foul line.
The Lions as a team made 29 of 35 from the line for 82.9 percent, while Long Beach State (1-4) shot just 59.1 percent from the line.
Shawn Hawkins led the 49ers with 13 points.
