GERMANTOWN, Md. (AP) -- Landy Thompson scored 17 of his game-high 19 points in the second half as Mount St. Mary's beat Sacred Heart 70-58 Saturday.
Mike Parker scored 10 of his 13 points in the opening 20 minutes for Sacred Heart (1-5, 0-1 Northeast Conference), and the Pioneers had a 34-27 halftime lead.
But Mount St. Mary's (2-3, 1-0) outscored Sacred Heart 16-to-3 over the first seven minutes of the second half. Thompson hit four three-pointers in a span of 4:48 to spark the Mount offense.
Mount St. Mary's held a 31-to-9 scoring advantage over the first 16 minutes of the second half to take a 58-43 advantage.
The Mount shot 15-of-26 in the second half. Mychal Kearse added 12 points, seven assists and five rebounds while Kiel Butler added 10 points.
Kibwe Trim led Sacred Heart with 16 points and six boards while Parker (13) and Brice Brooks (10) also reached double figures.
