BALTIMORE (AP) Sam Brand scored 28 points to lead Morgan State to an 85-80 win against South Carolina State on Saturday in overtime.
Brand went 10-of-15 from the field, including four 3-point shots. He also made 4-of-7 free throws.
Christopher Grant scored 12 points for Morgan State (2-4, 1-0 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference). Aaron Andrews had eight points and five rebounds for Morgan State.
Morgan State lead 37-33 at halftime, but South Carolina State (5-2, 0-1 MEAC) battled back in the second half to tie the game and force overtime.
Thurman Zimmerman led the scoring for South Carolina State with 32 points, shooting 17-of-18 from the free-throw line. He also led the team in rebounds with eight.
Brian Mason scored 16 points for South Carolina State. Derrick Davis added on 10 points.
Morgan State outscored South Carolina State in overtime 21-16.
