DALLAS (AP) -- Bryan Hopkins hit five 3-pointers and finished with 16 points and seven assists to lead Southern Methodist to a 74-57 win over Texas State on Saturday night.
Patrick Simpson and Eric Castro also added 16 for SMU (3-2), which led most of the way. Justin Isham added 13 for the Mustangs.
Zack Allison led Texas State (2-2) with 12 points, Josh Naylor had 11 and Anthony Dill added 10.
SMU jumped to an early lead and led 38-28 at halftime. The Mustangs pulled away in the second half on 65 percent shooting.
Texas State hit only 38 percent of its shots and was outrebounded 37-23. Derrick Roberts led SMU with 10 rebounds.
