ELON, N.C. (AP) Calvin Cage hit a 3-pointer with a little more than 2 minutes remaining in overtime to give Buffalo a lead it wouldn't give up on its way to a 70-63 win against Elon on Tuesday night.
Both teams surrendered late leads in a back-and-forth game with 13 lead changes and 15 ties. Elon (2-6) led by five with less than 7 minutes remaining before Buffalo rallied to take a three-point lead with just under 2 1/2 minutes left.
Turner Battle, whose hometown of Kernersville is about 40 miles away from the Elon campus, led the Bulls (4-2) with 18 points and eight rebounds. Mark Bortz and Yassin Idbihi added 13 each for Buffalo.
Montell Watson had 19 points, six rebounds and six assists for the Phoenix. Scottie Rice scored 13, despite going 0-for-5 from 3-point range.
