MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. (AP) Kevin Nelson had 21 points and eight rebounds to lead Central Michigan past ETSU 88-77 Tuesday.
The Chippewas (4-2) built an 11 point lead with 13 minutes left in the game but the Bucs (2-5) responded with a 14-2 run to tie the game at 62 on a free throw by Tim Smith. Central Michigan answered with a 6-0 run to take the lead for good.
The Chippewas connected on a season-high 13 3-pointers in the game while the Bucs connected on just six from behind the arc. Central Michigan closed out the first half with a 13-6 run to take a 36-34 lead.
Giordan Watson added 19 points and eight assists for Central Michigan and Steve Harris had 13 points and nine rebounds. Tony Bowne had 12 points and Eddie Spencer finished with a career-high 12 points and 10 rebounds.
James Anthony led the Bucs with 19 points while Tim Smith had 15 points and Ben Rhoda added 12.
