SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) -- John Cox scored 22 points and Tyrone Riley added 14 to lead San Francisco to a 75-70 victory over Sacramento State on Tuesday night.
Alan Wiggins scored 12 for the Dons (3-3), who won their first road game of the season.
Jason Harris and Alex Bausely had 19 points each for Sacramento State (1-5), who lost their fourth straight game.
The game was tied at 19 in the first half before Riley scored 11 points in the last eight minutes to give the Dons a 36-28 halftime lead.
The Hornets, who missed their first 10 shots, finished the first half shooting 26 percent (9-for-35) from the floor while USF shot 50 percent (12-for-24).
After the Dons increased their lead to 48-31 early in the second half, the Hornets went on a 31-15 run to cut it to 63-62 after Jameel Pugh's basket with 2:32 remaining.
Baskets by Cox and Wiggins, and two free throws by Andre Hazel helped San Francisco regain control.
