HATTIESBURG, Miss. (AP) -- Jasper Johnson had 23 points and 10 rebounds, Michael Ford added 19 and Southern Mississippi routed Alcorn State 82-61 on Saturday night.
Johnson scored 17 points in the first half and had his fifth career double-double for the Golden Eagles (6-2), who won their third straight.
Southern Miss took command with a 15-0 run in the game's opening moments, added a 9-0 spurt later in the first half and led by as many as 28.
The Golden Eagles shot better than 48 percent (17-for-35) from the field in the half and held Alcorn State to 31.8 percent shooting (7-of-22).
Jason Forte had 16 points and Dante Stiggers added 11 for Southern Miss, which beat the Braves for the eighth straight time and is 8-1 all-time against Alcorn State.
Almaad Jackson led Alcorn State (1-7) with 15 points, and DeAndre Jones added 12.
Alcorn State has lost two straight.
Southern Miss led 45-23 at halftime.
