CEDAR CITY, Utah (AP) -- Jason Baker scored 23 points, and DeAngelo Newsom added 10 points and 16 rebounds to lead Southern Utah to an 82-53 victory over Idaho on Saturday.
Tim Gainey added 12 points for the Thunderbirds (5-3), and Curtis Lincoln scored all 11 of his points in the second half.
Southern Utah shot 55 percent from the field and went 9-for-16 from 3-point range.
Dandrick Jones led Idaho (1-8) with 15 points. Armend Kahrimanovic scored 11 and Anton Lyons had 10 points for the Vandals.
Coming off the bench early in the game, Baker went 6-for-6 from 3-point range to spark Southern Utah, which won its third straight. Baker also made two straight layups during a pivotal first-half run that gave the Thunderbirds a 19-point lead.
Trailing 42-25 halftime, Idaho got as close as 50-35 on Tanoris Shepard's three-point play with 14:47 remaining, but Southern Utah answered with an 11-0 run to put the game out of reach.
Baker started the rally with a 3-pointer from the right corner before Newsom scored on a putback. Lincoln followed with a three-point play, and Baker hit another 3-pointer to make it 61-35 with 13:14 left to play.
Lubor Olsovsky's 3-pointer from the left corner gave the Thunderbirds their biggest lead, 77-47, with 2:29 left.
Southern Utah's Telton Hall committed five fouls in a span of 2:47 late in the second half.
