RICHMOND, Va. (AP) -- B.A. Walker and Michael Doles each scored five points in a 14-2 run midway through the second half Saturday night as Virginia Commonwealth pulled away for a 63-52 victory over La Salle.
After La Salle's Steven Smith hit a 3-pointer to tie the game at 38 with 10:58 remaining, Walker responded with a 3-pointer and a dunk to spark the Rams' run.
Doles ended the spurt with 3-pointer and a layup to give Virginia Commonwealth (4-3) a 52-40 lead with 6:43 remaining. The Explorers could get no closer than 10 the rest of the way.
Smith led La Salle (1-6) with 25 points. Darnell Harris added 11.
Nick George led the Rams with 15 points and eight rebounds. Walker and Doles had 13 points apiece.
Virginia Commonwealth shot only 37 percent but had just seven turnovers. The Rams were 10 of 30 on 3-pointers.
