LYNCHBURG, Va. (AP) -- Ronnie Burrell scored 25 points on 10-of-17 shooting Saturday night to lead UNC-Greensboro to a 74-69 victory over Liberty.
Burrell and Ricky Hickman scored four points apiece as the Spartans (6-2) opened the game with a 12-0 run. UNC-Greensboro led by as many as 14 points in the first half, and it was 37-28 at the break.
The Flames (1-6) opened the second half with a 12-2 run and took their first lead with 15:03 left on Rell Porter's layup, but UNC-Greensboro regained control with a 13-2 spurt.
The Spartans committed only 12 fouls and outscored Liberty 22-5 from the free-throw line.
Liberty guard Larry Blair had 14 rebounds as the Flames (1-6) dominated the boards 51-35. The Flames also kept it close by outscoring the Spartans 18-6 from 3-point range.
Hickman scored 21 points and Kyle Hines 16 for UNC-Greensboro.
Leo Lightbourne led Liberty with 13, followed by David Dees with 12 and Blair with 11.
Liberty point guard Brian Woodson made his first appearance after being academically eligible for the first semester. He did not start but had 10 points and eight assists in 35 minutes.
