FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) -- Darian Townes and Ronnie Brewer combined for 32 points as Arkansas dominated undersized Prairie View A&M 102-50 Saturday at Bud Walton Arena.
The Texas school did not match up well against Arkansas' depth and talent.
The Razorbacks (8-1), off to their best start since an 8-0 beginning in 1998, continued to shoot well from the field. Arkansas outscored Prairie View 54-26 inside the paint.
The Razorbacks made 8 of 12 three-pointers in a game that was basically over in the first half. Arkansas' staunch defense helped the Razorbacks score 100 points for the first time since Jan. 2, 2001, when the Razorbacks beat Maryland-Eastern Shore 100-40.
With seven-foot center Steven Hill and Townes positioned on the blocks, Arkansas exploited its height advantage to build a 49-26 lead by halftime.
Townes and Brewer finished with 16 points apiece, Charles Thomas scored 12 and Hill and Modica added 10 each.
Only two Prairie View players, Anthony Oha and Phillip Scott, with 10 points each, managed to score in double digits.
Prairie View (0-7) had trouble attacking the basket and both Hill and Townes disrupted their shots. Prairie View hit only 27 percent of its field goal attempts in the first half and watched Arkansas open a double-digit lead after Modica buried a three-pointer to give the Razorbacks a 17-5 advantage.
Minutes later, Arkansas extended its advantage to 33-12 as Olu Famutimi dunked the ball off an assist from Thomas. Townes immediately followed the dunk with a short turnaround jumper and a tip-in.
By the midpoint of the second half, Arkansas' lead had ballooned to 40 points.
