TULSA, Okla. (AP) -- Paul Miller had 16 points and 11 rebounds and Wichita State held off a late Tulsa rally to beat the Golden Hurricane 71-66 Saturday night.
After trailing by as many as 17 points in the second half, Tulsa (2-4) pulled within 64-62 on two free throws by Anthony Price with 2:33 to play.
Miller scored inside to extend the lead to four, and the Shockers (6-0) were 5-for-8 from the free throw line the rest of the way to hold on for the win.
Transfer Kyle Wilson added 13 points for Wichita State, and Jamar Howard and Randy Burns each scored 12.
Jarius Glenn had 24 points and 13 rebounds to lead Tulsa, and Price finished with 19 points.
Wichita State came out of halftime with an 8-0 run to take a 42-25 lead and the Shockers were comfortably ahead most of the second half until Tulsa scored 10 straight points to pull within 64-62.
Chris Wallace sparked the run with a 3-pointer and the Golden Hurricane forced consecutive turnovers with a full-court press leading to back-to-back baskets by Glenn.
After Price's two free throws, Miller hit a short jumper over Price to make it 66-62 with 1:35 left. Price answered with a bank shot on the other end with 1:17 left and Wichita State scored the rest of its points from the free-throw line.
Wichita State, which has won its first four road games for the first time in school history, held Tulsa to 4-for-21 shooting from 3-point range.
