LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Southern California snapped Western Michigan's six-game winning streak with an 81-74 victory Saturday.
Guard Lodrick Stewart scored 21 points, 15 of them in the first half, and forward Gregg Guenther added a career-high 20 points for the Trojans.
Southern Cal (4-3) never trailed. The Trojans opened a 35-18 lead late in the first half, capitalizing on a 14-2 run in which Stewart had a pair of 3-point baskets and Guenther made two layups.
They were ahead 15 points at halftime and held a double-digit lead for most of the game.
Stanes Bufford led Western Michigan with 21 points. Levi Rost added 16 points for the Broncos, who had won six straight after starting the season with consecutive losses to New Mexico State and Portland.
Southern Cal played without senior guard Errick Craven, their fourth-leading scorer with an average of 9 points. He was suspended for one game by interim coach Jim Saia for conduct detrimental to the team.
The Trojans won for the second time in three games since Saia took over for Henry Bibby, who was fired Dec. 6 after nine years on the job.
The school hired former Utah coach Rick Majerus earlier in the week, but Majerus backed out of the deal Saturday and will remain in his current job as an analyst for ESPN.
