HAMMOND, La. (AP) -- Jonathan Patton scored 14 points, all but two on 3-pointers, and Nate Lofton added 11 points and six rebounds as Southeastern Louisiana defeated Loyola of New Orleans 62-35 Wednesday night.
Southeastern (7-4) held Loyola (6-5) to 28 percent shooting and set a University Center record for fewest points by an opponent. The previous low by an opponent was 37 by Baptist Christian in the 1993-94 season opener.
The Lions, who held an opponent under 60 points for the eighth time in 11 games, scored the first nine points and held Loyola scoreless until Luke Zumo's 3-pointer at the 14:50 mark.
Southeastern led by as many as 15 points in the first half and didn't let the Wolfpack get closer than 10 the rest of the way en route to a 31-17 halftime lead.
Loyola got as close as 11 points in the second half when Daniel Schmidt nailed a 3-pointer, but Patton hit consecutive 3s to push Southeastern's lead to 37-20 with 17:52 remaining in the game.
Southeastern pulled away as it went on a 10-2 run, as Ricky Woods hit the first of two free throws that gave the Lions a 49-27 lead.
Zumo, who led Loyola with 11 points, hit a jumper with 6:51 left that cut the lead to 49-31, but the Wolfpack missed their last eight shots and didn't score over the final 2:35 after Zach Tyson made the second of two free throws.
