MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- Senior Aaron Robinson scored a career-high 20 points and Jeff Hagen added 16 as hot-shooting Minnesota defeated St. Francis, Pa., 85-67 Wednesday night.
The Gophers (7-3) won their fifth straight, blowing the game open with a 26-5 run to close the first half. They shot 71 percent from the field in the first half and finished the game at 64 percent.
Vincent Grier scored 12 points and Rico Tucker added 11 for Minnesota, while Darshan Luckey led St. Francis (5-4) with 14 points and Jason Osborne added 13.
Robinson was 5-for-5 from 3-point range in the first half and hit six 3-pointers in all as the Gophers surged to a 49-24 lead at the break.
Hagen got Minnesota off to a quick start with three straight baskets, and finished the half with 10 points, four assists and four blocked shots.
Minnesota built an 18-9 lead early, but 3-point plays by Luckey and Osborne pulled the Red Flash to within four at 23-19. Hagen then scored consecutive baskets, Robinson hit a pair of 3-pointers and the Gophers pulled away, holding St. Francis without a basket for the final four minutes of the half.
