ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) -- Steven Thomas scored 32 points and brought down 11 rebounds to lead Texas-Arlington to a 95-81 win over Texas-Tyler on Wednesday night.
Texas-Arlington (5-3) shot a blistering 72 percent from the field.
Thomas was 12-of-18 from the field and sank eight free throws. Jarrett Howell added 21 points and Jermaine Griffin had 12 for the Mavericks (5-3).
Michael Galloway and Brandon Weasby scored 19 points apiece to lead Texas-Tyler. Joe Henderson scored 17 points and Patrick Branche had 12 for the Patriots (4-4), who had won four straight.
The Mavericks, which lost 85-70 to No. 15 Texas last week, led 42-41 at halftime before opening up the game in the second half by shooting 81 percent from the floor.
