ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) -- Jason Forte scored 21 points and helped Brown break away from Charleston Southern late Wednesday to claim the championship of the UCF Holiday Invitational, 65-52.
It was Brown's first tournament win in 32 years. Its last was in the 1971-72 season, when the Bears (6-5) won the Hall of Fame Classic in Springfield, Mass.
Forte had six points in a 15-4 Brown run at the beginning of the second half to keep the Bears ahead. Chris Moore finished with 14 points, including 12 in the second half, to lead Charleston Southern (2-7).
Terrell Brown, who had made just 3-of-15 3-pointers all season, nailed three in a row to help the Buccaneers, who hit 8 of their first 13 shots, race to a 13-0 lead with just 3:07 gone.
Brown trailed by as many as 16 points in the first half. But Brown went on a 32-10 run in the final 13:00 to take a 35-29 halftime lead.
