JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) --Guard Aubrey Conerly scored 16 points in his first start of the year Wednesday to help lead Jacksonville over Eckerd, 71-65 .
The Dolphins, who lost to Florida State by 44 points in their last outing, needed a late surge to beat the Division II Tritons. Eckerd held a 52-51 advantage with 6:40 to play when Jacksonville put together a 14-1 run in a six-minute span.
Jacksonville (5-4) held a 31-27 halftime advantage and increased it to six points before Eckerd (7-4) went on a 13-3 run midway in the half and took a 44-38 lead. But after trading baskets over the next five minutes, JU put together its six-minute surge.
David Lee also scored 16 points for the hosts.
Matt Cenatus came off the bench to lead Eckerd (7-4) with 17 points.
Jacksonville dismissed starting center Joey Robinson earlier Wednesday for violating team policy, coach Hugh Durham announced. Details of the violation were not released.
