CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (AP) -- Todd Peterson and Anthony Maestranzi scored 19 points as Northern Illinois rallied past Texas A&M-Corpus Christi 73-67 Wednesday night.
Northern Illinois (5-4) trailed by as much as 13 points in the second half but came back thanks to 12-0 run to take a 65-59 lead with 2:46 left. Peterson had a 3-pointer and layup in the spurt.
Travis Bailey scored 24 points for Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (8-3), and Corey Lamkin chipped in with 15.
The Huskies shot 57 percent from the floor and hit a season-high 12 3-point shots. Maestranzi hit 5 3-pointers.
Corey Stokes had a layup to bring the Islanders within 67-64 with 1:48 remaining. But Johnathan Byrd had a basket and Maestranzi hit four free throws in the final 30 seconds.
Texas A&M-Corpus Christi used a 13-5 surge to take a 36-27 halftime lead. The Islanders stretched the lead to 40-27 early in the second half.
