ASHEVILLE, N.C. (AP) -- Nathan Ball knocked down a 10-footer as time expired to give Charleston Southern a 64-63 victory over N.C.-Asheville on Wednesday in the teams' Big South Conference opener.
The Buccaneers (4-7, 1-0 Big South) trailed 58-50 with 10 minutes left but held Asheville without a field goal to the end of the game, outscored the Bulldogs (3-9, 0-1) 14-5 down the stretch.
Kurtis Wright scored 16 points and pulled down 10 rebounds, while Jovan Jegdic and Ball added 11 points each for Charleston Southern.
Omar Collington scored 12 points and Steven Rush added 10 for Asheville, which took its fourth straight loss.
In the first half, Charleston Southern controlled the action and went on a 7-0 run to spread the lead to as much as 26-17, only to see it dwindle to 36-31 at the half.
