CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) -- Tony Mitchell scored 18 points and Robert Swain added 17 points off the bench as the College of Charleston beat Elon 66-47 on Wednesday night.
The Cougars (9-3, 2-0 Southern Conference) led for most of the first half before the Phoenix (2-12, 0-1) went on a 16-7 run to cut Charleston's lead to 42-38 with 10 minutes to go.
But the Cougars answered with a 23-4 run, sparked by one of Swain's five 3-pointers.
The Cougars shot 45.5 percent (10-of-22) from behind the arc, while Elon shot 10 percent (1-for-10) on 3-pointers.
Brian Waters led the Phoenix with 11 points and Le'Vonn Jordan pulled down 11 rebounds.
Bernard Jackson and Dontaye Draper each had 11 points for Charleston, who has won six straight.
