KENT, Ohio (AP) -- Kevin Warzynski scored 18 points and Jason Edwin had two clutch baskets down the stretch to help Kent State hold off Eastern Michigan 67-64 on Wednesday.
The Golden Flashes (9-4, 2-1 Mid-American) led 52-35 with 15:27 remaining in the game, but Eastern Michigan (8-4, 2-1) responded with a 9-0 run.
Darryl Garrett's layup got the Eagles within 62-61 with 5:44 left, but Edwin made a jumper and got inside for a basket to increase the lead to five.
Eastern Michigan's Michael Ross connected on a 3-pointer to cut the lead to 67-64 at the 1:45 mark but both teams clamped down on defense in the waning moments.
Edwin finished with 13 points and six rebounds.
John Bowler led Eastern Michigan with 19 points and Ross made 5 of 10 shots to score 15.
Kent State shot 57 percent from the field and led 44-28 at halftime.
