MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) -- Ralfeal Golden hit a 3-pointer in overtime and finished with 26 points and eight rebounds, leading Alabama State to a 71-66 victory over Grambling State on Wednesday night.
Grambling State tied the game 59-all on a pair of free throws by Marcus Watson with 6 seconds left. Golden missed a 3-pointer, forcing the teams into overtime.
Golden's 3 with 56 seconds remaining in overtime put Alabama State in front 66-65, and the Hornets wouldn't trail again.
Golden shot nine of 18 from the field and five of seven from the foul line for Alabama State (4-7, 2-0 SWAC). Alexander Oliver added 11 points and LaMarquis Blake had 10.
Ron Ellis and Watson scored 14 points apiece to lead Grambling State (4-5, 1-1), while Brion Rush and Andre Ratliff each added 10. John Dorsey pulled down a game-high 10 rebounds for the Tigers.
Grambling State led 29-25 at halftime, but was held to 25 percent shooting in the second half.
