PINE BLUFF, Ark. (AP) -- Ralfeal Golden had 18 points and eight rebounds to lead Alabama State to a 52-45 win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Saturday.
Alexander Oliver had 10 points for Alabama State (5-7) and Kevin Spicer had 12 rebounds. Alabama State lead by six at the half with a 19-13 score. The team returned after the break to improve their field goal percentage from 26.9 percent to 37.5 percent. Overall Alabama State was 16-of-50 from the floor.
William Byrd lead Arkansas-Pine Bluff (2-9) with 15 points and seven rebounds. Tamarius Brown had 11 points. Arkansas-Pine Bluff was dismal from 3-point range, going 1-of-6 for the game at 16.7 percent. The team was improved at the free throw line, going 14-of-17 for 82.4 percent. Overall the team had three assists. Alabama State had 13.
Shooting from the floor also was problematic for Arkansas-Pine Bluff. The team went 15-of-44 for the night, or 34.1 percent, which was just slightly improved over Alabama State's 32 percent.
Arkansas-Pine Bluff had 14 turnovers to Alabama State's ten.
