HAMILTON, N.Y. (AP) -- Sophomore Jon Simon scored 17 points to lead Colgate to a 60-56 win over Army Saturday.
Dan Gentile added nine points for Colgate (5-8, 1-0) while Kyle Roemer and Andrew Zidar both got eight in the Patriot League opener for both teams.
The loss was the fifth straight for Army (2-12, 0-1).
Colgate held 51-41 lead with 13:23 left in the game before Army was able to cut the deficit to one, 54-53, with 5:11 remaining.
Trailing by two, Army's Cory Sinning missed missed a layup with 51 seconds left. Zidar grabbed the rebound and sealed the win for the Raiders with a layup with 19 seconds left.
Grant Carter led the Black Knights with 14 points, including four 3-pointers, while Matt Bell had 13 and Colin Harris 11.
In the first half, Colgate trailed 25-24 before going on a seven-point run on baskets by Zidar, Alvin Reed and a 3-pointer by Gentile. The Raiders led 36-29 at halftime.
