HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. (AP) -- Dominick Mejia made five of six 3-point shots and scored a game-high 22 points to lead Drexel to an 84-81 overtime victory against Hofstra on Saturday.
Mejia's final 3-pointer with 1:11 left in regulation brought Drexel into a 74-74 tie and forced overtime. Hofstra (10-2, 2-1 Colonial Athletic Association) took a 71-65 lead when Carlos Rivera hit a 3-pointer at 3:53.
The Dragons (5-6, 1-2) then had a 9-3 run to close regulation, with Mejia also making two free throws in addition to his tying shot.
Loren Stokes of Hofstra hit a jumper to tie it 81-81 with 1:25 left in overtime. Mejia then put Drexel ahead to stay, 83-81, with a layup at 1:02. He made one of three free throws with 0.3 seconds left to seal the win.
Jeremiah King had 14 points for Drexel.
Wendell Gibson, playing in his first game since injuring his knee last Jan. 28 against Drexel, had 18 points and a game-high 11 rebounds to lead Hofstra. Rivera added 15 points, one more than Stokes and Antoine Agudio.
