JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (AP) -- Ben Earle scored 16 points, including three 3-pointers in a two-minute stretch to lift Furman to a 76-68 victory over East Tennessee State on Saturday.
ETSU (4-9, 0-3 Southern Conference) led by as many as five in the second half before the Paladins took the lead for good 52-51 off Earle's 3-pointer with 9:14 to go.
There had been 16 lead changes and 10 ties to that point, but Earle hit two more 3-pointers and Moussa Diagne, who finished with 17 points, added five more during the run to give Furman (8-6, 1-1) a 60-53 lead with 7:04 left.
The Buccaneers scored the next four points to cut it to 60-57, but couldn't get any closer as Furman hit all six free throw attempts in the final 1:25.
Robby Bostain scored 13 points, Eric Webb had 11 and Nicholas Sanders added 10 for the Paladins.
ETSU's Dillion Sneed had 14 points and 11 rebounds. The Bucs also got 21 points from Tim Smith, 12 from James Anthony and 10 from Andrew Reed.
