WASHINGTON (AP) -- Will Gant scored the game-winning basket with less than a second left to give Howard a 79-77 come-from-behind win over Morgan State Saturday.
Howard's Cliffone Ault led all scorers with 22 points, and Darryl Hudson added 18.
Morgan State's Chris Grant gave the Bears (3-10, 1-2 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) a boost, tying the score at 77 with about nine seconds remaining. Grant was fouled on the shot but missed the free throw that would have given Morgan State the edge.
The Bison (5-6, 2-0) traded leads with the Bears 11 times. Morgan State appeared to take control on an 11-3 run that gave them their biggest lead at 74-66 with 2:31 remaining.
But mistakes cost the Bears, and a three-pointer from Hudson put Howard ahead 77-75 with 14 seconds remaining.
Sam Brand led the Bears with 15 points, while Aaron Andrews and Grant each tallied 13.
