LAKE CHARLES, La. (AP) -- Aldrynn Wardell hit the game-winning shot with seven seconds left to lift McNeese State to a 65-64 win over Louisiana-Monroe on Saturday.
Louisiana-Monroe held an 11-point lead, 58-47, with 7:53 left in the game, but McNeese State chipped away at the lead and closed to within one, 64-63, with 21 seconds left on a 3-pointer by Edward Garriet.
A McNeese steal on a ULM inbound led to Wardell's game-winning shot.
The Indians had a final chance to win, but a jump shot by Daryl Mason bounced off the rim at the buzzer.
McNeese (7-6, 2-0 Southland Conference) was led by J.T. Williams' 12 points.
The Indians (6-7, 0-2 Southland Conference) were led by Cecil Hood's 15 points and Mason added 10. DeAndre Alexander grabbed 13 rebounds for ULM.
The Indians had two key runs in the first half to lead 36-30 at halftime.
