INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -- George Hill's evenhanded 16 points and 16 rebounds, and Johnny Miller's 18 points led IUPUI to a 81-65 win over Oakland, Mich., Saturday.
The teammates led five Jaguars in double-figure scoring with Akeem Clark adding 14, Brandon Cole chipping in 13 and Maushae Byles contributing 11 for IUPUI (7-6, 1-1 Mid-Con), who outscored the Golden Grizzlies 32-22 in the paint.
Oakland (3-9, 1-1) trailed just 37-36 at halftime, but IUPUI extended its lead after the break on 6-of-11 (54.5 percent) 3-point shooting.
Forward Cortney Scott, who finished with 17 points and 11 rebounds, scored 10 of Oakland's first 14 points after halftime, as the Golden Grizzlies pulled within 50-48 with 15:06 left. But 3-pointers by Cole and Clark helped the Jaguars widen the gap to 62-50 with 10 minutes left.
Pierre Dukes and Brandon Cassise answered with two straight 3-pointers to make it 62-56, but IUPUI scored five straight points, as Oakland got no closer than six in the last six minutes of the game.
