CHENEY, Wash. (AP) -- Henry Bekkering and Danny Pariseau each hit a free throw in the final minute and Eastern Washington overcame poor shooting to beat Sacramento State 44-41 in Big Sky Conference action Saturday.
Eastern Washington (5-10, 2-0 Big Sky) led 42-38 after Bekkering made one of two foul shots with 13 seconds left. But Alex Bausley hit a 3-pointer with 3.6 seconds left to pull the Hornets (3-11, 0-2 Big Sky) to within one at 42-41. The Eagles' Paul Butorac sealed it at the buzzer with a dunk.
Jason Harris scored a game-high 24 for the Hornets, who have lost all nine road games this season and nine straight at Eastern Washington.
Eastern Washington, led by Butorac's 10 points, managed just 31 percent shooting from the field, including 1 of 16 from 3-point range. The Eagles hit just 11 of 26 from the line.
Bekkering chipped in 10 rebounds for EWU.
Sacramento State, which entered the game leading the Big Sky in steals and points off turnovers, pressured Eastern Washington into 17 turnovers.
But the Hornets, who have a shot a league-low 36 percent from the floor this season, couldn't take advantage, shooting just 28 percent from the field.
Marc Axton, who is third in scoring in the Big Sky at 17.3 points per game, was held to six points for Eastern Washington, which has won three of four.
