THIBODAUX, La. (AP) -- Joe Thompson scored 20 points to lead Sam Houston State to a 73-66 Southland Conference win over Nicholls State Saturday.
Chris Jordan added a double-double of 14 points and 10 rebounds for the Bearkats (7-6, 1-0 Southland). Wilder Auguste added 15 points and Kelvin Williams had 13. Sam Houston State held a 48-37 edge on the boards.
Stefan Blaszczynski led the Colonels (5-8, 0-2) with 12 points and was a perfect 6-of-6 from the free-throw line. Willie Depron added 11 points and dished out five assists and Andrew Westmoreland had 10 points.
Nicholls State led 33-30 at the half.
