CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) -- Mindaugas Katelynas scored 17 points as he led Chattanooga to an 81-61 victory over Western Carolina on Saturday.
The Mocs (9-3, 2-0 Southern Conference) put Western Carolina away early with a 19-0 run. The run started with a Charles Anderson layup at 15:03 and was capped at 11:18 by a Casey Long 3-pointer.
Western Carolina responded with a six-point burst but failed to catch up to Chattanooga.
Chattanooga extended its lead 80-to-51 on an Anderson free-throw with 3:20 to play.
The Mocs run helped put them up 51-28 at the half.
Katelynas hit 14 of his 17 points in the first half, making all six attempted baskets in the first.
Chattanooga shot well from the field in the first, hitting 61 percent while holding the Catamounts to 36 percent on the game.
Anderson put up 12 points for the Mocs.
Western Carolina was led in scoring by Kyle Greathouse with 14 and Antonio Russell with 10.
The Catamounts are now 1-for-26 when visiting Chattanooga.
