SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) -- Kyle Wilson hit a 3-pointer with 11 seconds left to give Wichita State a 63-61 win over Southwest Missouri State on Saturday night.
Wichita State (10-1, 3-0 MVC) trailed Southwest Missouri 61-60 with 28 seconds left in a close game that saw neither team lead by more than three in the second half. The lead changed seven times in the second half.
Two free throws by Wichita State's Jamar Howard with 2:25 left tied the score at 58. A basket by Rob Kampman with 1:36 left gave Wichita a 60-58 lead, but two free throws by Southwest Missouri's Blake Ahearn with 1:10 left tied it again at 60.
A bad pass by Wichita State on its next possession ended up in Ahearn's hands with 50 seconds left. A jump ball following a Southwest Missouri miss gave the Bears the ball back.
Tyler Chaney missed a 10 footer, but Tamarr Maclin was fouled rebounding the miss. He made one of two free throws to give Southwest Missouri its final lead at 61-60 before Wilson's winning shot.
A 3-point attempt at the buzzer by Anthony Shavies rimmed the basket.
Randy Burns and Paul Miller led Wichita with 16 points each. Wilson finished with 12.
Kellen Easley led Southwest Missouri with 15 and Shavies had 11.
