SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) -- Grant Stout scored 21 points to lead Northern Iowa to a 62-53 come-from-behind victory over Southwest Missouri State on Tuesday.
Northern Iowa (13-4, 4-2 Missouri Valley Conference) trailed by 14 with less than 15 minutes left, but outscored Southwest Missouri 33-10 the rest of the way.
The Bears (7-8, 1-6) led 31-19 at halftime, and extended their lead to 43-29 on a basket by Kellen Easley with 14:56 left. But the Panthers followed up with an 11-2 run that included seven points from Ben Jacobson to cut Southwest Missouri's lead to 48-45 with 7:51 left.
A 3-pointer by Erik Crawford narrowed the Bears' lead to 49-48 with 7:02 left, and a basket by Stout with 5:49 left gave Northern Iowa its first lead at 50-49.
Two free throws by Tamarr Maclin put Southwest Missouri back up 51-50 with 4:44 left, but back to-back 3-pointers by John Little and Crawford gave the Panthers the lead for good at 56-51 with 3:13 left.
Northern Iowa shot 73 percent (16-of-22) from the field in the second half, while holding the Bears to 33 percent shooting (7-of-21).
Jacobson finished with 15 points. Crawford added 11 for the Panthers.
Maclin led Southwest Missouri with 15 points, and Tyler Chaney added 11.
